“At the age of 40 I decided to once again pick up the guitar, something I had played a bit as a teenager. After a couple of years using books or the internet to learn, I found myself in a rut and frustrated. My playing was not really improving and usually just played the same songs every night.
As with a fitness personal trainer, I needed a coach who continue to challenge me, whilst guiding me with correct form and a structured approach to learning.
During my first lesson Peter took the time to listen to what I wanted to achieve with my playing and has continued to structured my lessons around this. Since beginning weekly lessons with Peter, I have broken a lot of my bad habits, improved my technique and he is teaching me the theory behind navigating the fretboard. In less than 6 months I have learnt to play things that I had struggled with for years prior.
Peter is an awesome guitarist, it would be easy to be overwhelmed in his company, but his enthusiasm for teaching is very evident and I often feel that he is as excited to be in each lesson as I am.
His studio is a great environment for the lessons and his relaxed approach helps me to focus on the job at hand.
I would have absolutely no hesitation at all in recommending Peter to others wanting to become better guitarists.

I had a guitar lesson yesterday... yes, you read right. I've been playing bass since I was 14, with proper tuition for a couple of years to begin. I have also picked up a guitar plenty in the past forty years too but what I learned in one hour with Peter Mengede of Sunnybank Studios was nothing short of amazing. The most basic of mistakes I was making that made my playing sloppy and/or slowed me down, simple technique mistakes that Peter pointed out in the nicest possible way.
For an artist with his credentials, there's no ego in the room, no attitude, just a genuine love of music and, I felt, he displayed a genuine desire to see me improve my playing.
If you are in or around Brisbane and looking for tuition (for yourself or your children), or you are a band looking to really polish your act, and to be taught by an exceptional artist who has played packed stadiums, I can't recommend Peter highly enough.
